Care & FAQ
How to look after your AquaHaus hardware, and answers to the questions we get asked most.
Caring for your reef equipment
Before it goes in the tank
Give every piece a good rinse in fresh water before adding it to your system, to clear any dust or residue from the printing process.
Material & process
AquaHaus hardware is 3D printed to order, nothing is made until you order it, so allow a short production window before dispatch. Everything we make is printed in PETG, a plastic widely used across the reef-keeping hobby for frag plugs and fittings. It is inert and stable once printed. As with any hardware in your tank, keep an eye on it early on and use your own judgement, every system is different.
Because each piece is printed individually, colour can vary slightly between print runs, this doesn't affect fit or function, just the exact shade you receive.
Attaching frags
For best results, epoxy your coral frag to the plug rather than gluing the plug directly to rockwork, it makes it far easier to move or rearrange frags later without disturbing the coral itself.
Cleaning
A soft brush and a quick scrub is usually enough to clear algae growth from plugs and fittings over time.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an order take?+
Every item is printed after you order, so allow roughly 3–5 business days for production before dispatch, then courier transit on top. See Shipping & Delivery for details.
Do you ship outside South Africa?+
We deliver nationwide across South Africa, and to the wider SADC region on request, get in touch before ordering if you're outside South Africa.
Is the plastic safe for my reef?+
We print in PETG, a material commonly used for reef hardware across the hobby. We recommend rinsing any new piece before adding it to your tank, and introducing new hardware gradually as you would with anything new in the system.
Can I get a custom size or design?+
Often, yes. Email us at hello@theaquahaus.co.za with what you have in mind and we'll let you know if it's possible.
What if my order arrives damaged?+
Email us as soon as possible with your order number and a photo, and we'll sort it out. See our Terms & Conditions for the full policy.
How do I track my order?+
Tracking details are emailed to you as soon as your order is dispatched.
Do you accept returns?+
Because most items are printed specifically for your order, change-of-mind returns are limited, but damaged, faulty, or incorrect items are covered. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
